In the seventh edition of the much awaited ChannelWorld State of the Market (SOTM) survey 2016, 91 percent of channel partners expect their IT expenditure to increase in mobility with 86 percent banking on security. The survey reveals that virtualization and hybrid cloud based solutions rank the lowest in the list of domains partners expect an increase of expenditure.

Reacting to the emerging technology trends gripping the industry, 47 percent of channel partners believe that big data is the most overhyped technology currently. Augmented reality and social media almost tied with each other for the bottom position on this one.

When it comes to innovations, partner companies haven’t been left behind as 48 percent of respondents reveal that they have completed the procedure of implementing mobility in 2015. While CRM tops the list, ERP is left at the extreame end of the pile. Almost the same number of channel partners have implemented private and public cloud computing in their organizations.

With the advent of another year full of technological advancements, channel partners have already planned their top initiatives for 2016. While 35 percent of respondents are looking to adopt social media technologies, surprisingly, only 31 percent voted for analytics, which is a booming technology domain in the IT world right now.

All in all, quite an exciting year for the partner ecosystem with many technological advancements and deployments to look forward to in the year 2016.
